All ACX jobs are SAG-AFTRA-friendly

Hey, there!

Here’s some really good news if you’re an SAG-AFTRA member, looking for work as an audiobook narrator on ACX.

This is big news to some, and viewed as not likely by some union members.

Trust me. It’s for real.

Here we go: when you are offered a job on ACX, Audible’s Audiobook Creation Exchange (, there are three buttons on the screen where you accept the job: Decline, Accept and Accept with SAG-AFTRA H&R.

You may have noticed that on 50/50 royalty share jobs, or jobs that pay less than $225 per-finished-hour (PFH), that the Accept with SAG-AFTRA H&R button is dimmed, and so is not available for you as a SAG-AFTRA member to click.

That doesn’t matter. You can still accept the project. Just click the plain Accept button.

Pay attention: as a SAG-AFTRA member, not only can you accept any stipend project, and you can accept any royalty share project (although ACX won’t contribute anything to your H&R – that’s why the button’s dimmed). You can certainly also accept pre-paid hourly projects, including ones that pay you less than $225 per hour.

So – go for it. Build a portfolio of ongoing income with projects on ACX that fit SAG-AFTRA’s criteria.

Hope this helps.

I’m interested in learning more about SAG/AFTRA opportunities in audio book recording. I’ve submitted my contact information but haven’t received a confirmation response.

Submitted your contact information to whom? I’m not sure who you’re waiting for a response from. ACX? The union?

      Tell me more.

    I am a FPNM (Fee Paying Non-Member) of SAG-AFTRA.
To any of you that may fall under this category, While it is true that you can accept projects that are not eligible for AFTRA H&R contributions, all the payments received from ACX (along with any payments from acting, voice over or other union projects) must be submitted as earning to SAG-AFTRA and count as part of the determination of the fees for Non-membership that you are required to pay SAG-AFTRA.
