Award winning VO classes.

For the last one two three four years, David H. Lawrence XVII and VO2GoGo has won BACK STAGE’s Reader’s Choice award, as Best VO Class, Workshop and Teacher, for this weekly series of award-winning VO classes, training students in both VO skills, and VO career management. Each day long intensive is a series of four individual classes, and each class during the day includes a worksheet, a lecture and actual on-mic work, with the resulting audio given to Participants in MP3 format. You can drop in or drop out, and take classes as wanted or needed – no long term signups.

Classes include all categories of VO skills, as well as instruction in VO career management, including Commercial VO, Perfect Demos, Home VO Gear, IVR/Phone Prompts, Self Direction and Mastering Voice123 as well as Agents and Unions, Children’s Audiobooks, Managing Clients and Projects, Animation, Digital Products, Fiction Audiobooks, Documentary Narration, News and Information Products, Non-Fiction Audiobooks, Social Media, Specialty Narration, Trailers and Promos, Training and Industrials and VO Markets and Creating Your Own Content. There are also two weeks of review/tuneup at the end of the year.

Location, please.

Each day long intensive is held once a month on your choice of four different days, usually on Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Tuesday, at five different locations:

– at Actors Comedy Studio at 7461 Beverly Boulevard in West Hollywood, CA, a couple of blocks from CBS Television City and The Grove. The building’s on the north side of Beverly, between Gardner and Vista, with free on-street parking on Oakwood, which runs parallel to Beverly. ACS is on the second floor, and you’ll come in via the rear entrance. Here’s a map of where Actors Comedy Studio is located.

– at Connect Studios LA at 210 N. Pass Avenue in Burbank, behind Milt and Edie’s Dry Cleaners. Parking is free at the 215 Pass Avenue parking garage. Connect Studios LA is on the second floor, Suite 206. Here’s a map of where Connect Studios LA is located.

– at the VO Peeps Meetup location at 138 Long Grass in Irvine. Convenient and plenty of free street parking in front. Here’s a map of where the VO Peeps Meetup space is located.

– at the beautiful New Musical Theater of San Francisco at 414 Mason Street, between Post and Geary, on the fifth floor. Parking is available across the street. Here’s a map of where The New Musical Theater is located.

– and online on the web, via live webcast using GoToMeeting. No driving, parking or even getting all dressed up is required. Kinda like VO from your home studio.

How much?

The day long intensives are $250 for Participants, $150 for Auditors and they are free as part of the benefits of the VO2GoGo Pro and ProPlus membership, when reserved in advance. You can sign up for each class the month before it’s held. If you’d like to be notified when registration opens for each class, join VO2GoGo’s 60 SECONDS mailing list. If you’d like to attend classes for free on first-come, first-served basis, become a VO2GoGo Pro or ProPlus member.

Participant? Auditor? Pro? Wha?

Each class is made up of two types of attendees, Participants and Auditors – and there’s a difference between the two: Participants work the mic, and Auditors don’t.

Everyone gets handouts, lecture time, Q&A, potty breaks, etc. Participants work the microphone and are directed, and the MP3 audio of their work is sent to them via email after class. Auditors observe that process, and fully participate in all other aspects of the class. Pros are given access to the class in advance, attend all live classes for free, and can choose to be Participants or Auditors. There will never be more that 15 participants in class, so early reservation is suggested.

So…you expect us to pay attention for 6 straight hours?

No. There are plenty of breaks, and a walk-away lunch for an hour between the 3rd and 4th class of the day.
