No, Thank You.

Hey there!

Punctuation is everything, isn’t it?

As in, how would you read the title of this post?

I have one particular way in mind.

I’ve been getting a lot of private emails from my clients, thanking me for helping them in one way or another.

And I’m always surprised when I get one.

Because the truth is, I’m the one who should be doing the thanking.

So, that phrase in the title should not be read as a polite refusal, as in “No thank you, I’ll pass.”

It should be read as a gentle, self-deprecated reply, directing gratitude toward the original speaker.

“No, my dear clients, it’s you who I am thankful for.”

It’s true. I’ve had more fun and enjoyment helping performers craft an expert, profitable and satisfying VO career, than I ever would have imagined.

I’m thankful that they find value in my classes.

I’m thankful that I’m able to offer value to my Pro members.

I’m thankful that I get daily message about the audiobooks they’ve been offered, the commercials they’ve voice, the IVR trees they’ve created and work in every VO category imaginable.

I’m thankful that my clients have booked work all over the world. I get messages from the most unlikely places on the map.

I’m thankful that they have labeled my instruction “the best” and “awesome” and lots of other superlatives.

And I’m thankful that they have referred other performers to me.

And by they, I mean you.

Thank you, so very much, for being so supportive, so attentive and so productive. I really appreciate it.

What are you most thankful for? Let us all know in the comments below.

David

“Punctuation is everything” reminds me of the book “Eats, Shoots & Leaves,” about punctuation and in particular, the proper use of commas.

Thanks for helping kickstart my VO career.

You’re an huber-smart pro, who is hands down, the most trusted source for VO industry info. Your clear, concise, no BS approach is trustworthy and when one is getting started, that’s vital. You are my one, my only VO mentor! Thank you!

Thank you for all you do, David! Your help has been crucial to my beginning VO career! And I love this post because I’m a total grammar nerd. :)
