I’ve gotten several questions and comments about the way I talk about slating – and I wanted to let you in on my personal slating approach.
Remember…this is your one chance to make a great first impression. And your slate is one of the most overlooked, thrown-away, yet important pieces of your audition real estate.
Here’s how to make your slates world-class awesome.

Scammers are nothing if not ingenious. And there’s a scam that’s been going around for years I want you to be particularly aware of. And even though it can be harmfule, we’re giving scammers a bit more credit than they’re due.
It’s called the “Can You Hear Me?” scam. Here’s what it really is, how to recognize it, and how to avoid it.

Yeah. I know, right? Mark Zuckerberg actually said that, back in 2007.
He was responding to a question about how as tech workers age, they are systematically squeezed out of the opportunity stream at their companies, and how tech is perceived as a young person’s game.
I’ve got a couple of suggestions on how to show people like Mark that they can go pound salt with their ageist attitudes.

You may know that I have an app called Rehearsal® Pro that helps actors learn their lines. In a nutshell, you record your scenes, and then you rehearse over and over again until you have the lines down cold.
Now, I know that the actors that use my app “stay fresh” on their way to whatever event they’ve been preparing for, like an audition, or a stage rehearsal, in the car, with the app. We allow the app to connect to your car’s Bluetooth, and we recently added a Car Play Mode similar to what the Audible app has.
When I sent out a note to the Rehearsal® Pro users that this option was now available, I wasn’t expecting such a huge barrage of thank you and kudos for making this mode an option.
Nor was I expecting one commenter who was anything but grateful.

I shot a video recently that discussed the various avenues from which we all get performance work, and I didn’t have particularly nice things to say about Fiverr.
Jamie was watching, and had some things to say and some points to make, and I thought you should hear them as well.
Here’s what he said.

Facebook made some changes recently to how they structure notifications – those are the emails they send out to you when something happens you asked to be notified about…like a new post in a group you’re in, or a comment to a post you’re following.
The thing is, they made those notifications more compact, and that’s actually a problem.
If you want to be heard, here are two things you need to do with every post you make.
