Hey there!

Miss Betsy and I just watched Game 6 of the Golden State – Houston playoff series. Houston has lost to the Warriors every single year they’ve played them in the playoffs in the Steph Curry era.

And after the virtual high-fives when the Warriors won to advance to take on the winner of Trail Blazers – Nuggets series, which has gone to 7 games, she said something really interesting.

She said she wonders if winning is imprinted for one team (the Warriors) and struggling and eventually losing is becoming an imprint on the Rockets.

As the crowd noise faded, that stuck with me. And it made me wonder about everyone’s individual imprint. So…what’s your imprint?

But the ones in this episode are particularly pernicious when it comes to starting or continuing a process or project.

The last two videos I released dealt with common biases we have when we analyze ideas and issue presented to us. And viewers commented and sent me private email like crazy.

OK. Let’s talk about biases’ more insidious and dangerous cousins: fallacies. Fallacies are traps we fall into that prevent us from moving forward because there’s a problem with the logical progression of our thinking.

Let’s look at a few that were gathered in a list by August Birch, who calls himself the Book Mechanic, who tries to help his clients the way I try to help my viewers: to think more clearly and be more successful. We’ll examine 3 big ones today, and the rest over the next few episodes.

Hey there!

A comment came up in a recent Pro Connect Live monthly accountability and support session with my lovely VO Pros, where one of them recently landed an agent via a cold submission, and mentioned that the agent appreciated the fact that the Pro did not give the agent her entire life story in that initial email.

She nailed the meeting…and landed the agent.

And that’s a lesson I’ve had to learn over and over and over: resist the urge to shower new contacts with exhaustive information. Here’s what to do instead.
