How Joseph Narducci Became An Audie Finalist With His First Audiobook

Hey there!

One day recently, I woke up to some amazing news. A friend and client of mine, VO2GoGo Pro and ACX Masterclass graduate Joseph Narducci, had been named a finalist in the Audie Awards for a book he had voiced.

His very first narration of an audiobook, by the way. Yep, he’d never narrated and produced an audiobook before.

And if you don’t know, the Audies are like the Oscars of audiobook narration. This was HUGE for him.

(And just so you know – the ACX Masterclass is currently open for registration, but only until this Friday. Click here for more details.)

So I got him on Skype and asked him how he did it. I can tell you it was inspiring a conversation as I’ve ever had.

Awesome, right? And as he said, even if you’re tech-phobic, you can do this. I know you can.

And I’d love to help you. Click here for more information the ACX Masterclass. You only have a few days left to register.

Hope this helps! Give me your thoughts on this in the comments below.

I too use Audacity and learned to do some editing with my coach but was totally reassured with David’s on-line class before he teamed up with Dan, about the simplicity I can achieve in producing my audiobooks. The techie side of all of this business is what took the most for me to grasp properly and I have to admit I was intimidated by a lot of the self proclaimed gurus who constantly tout their latest gizmos to make their productions the best-! Voices in my head ‘used to say’ I’m not good enough to do all that! Well thanks David for your clear straightforward teaching. Outstanding! Actually I don’t need an audie to know I’m successful however it certainly would be a delight!

I have the AT2020 usb and have produced a dozen plus audiobooks with that microphone. It is a great mic! I love it. I’m so glad to hear someone who knows their stuff recommend it. Cool video! Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations Joseph and David and Dan!

What a wonderful story and a great interview. I watched the entire thing. While outside validation is not what should drive us, it is always nice when it comes.

David, Thanks so much for posting this right now! I am about to start recording my first audiobook TODAY in fact, in my home studio, and this interview is validating on every level–acknowledging hardware/software fears but taking the panic out of that fear; and giving me a view of the finish line which I must admit I couldn’t visualize till now. The point I take from this is that although Joseph had setbacks and difficulties during the process, he called upon his support network to help him work through them, and he did. And he had the advantage (as I do) of being an excellent match with his material. And that even though it is hard to imagine oneself doing something one has never actually done before, as much as one has trained to do it and wants to do it–at some point, one comes out the other side having DONE it. I am finding getting started to be the biggest hurdle of all–but this video has literally pushed me forward. Thank you so much.

David! What a blast it was being able to sit down and talk with you! Seeing that you posted this made my day.

And if it didn’t come out loud and clear in the interview-allow me to say to all my fellow classmates-I cannot say enough about the ACX Masterclass, David H.Lawrence XVII, and Dan O’Day. The training changed my career. The facebook group, like this one, was also very encouraging to someone like me who thought producing an audiobook was impossible. If you have the talent as an actor, are ready to work hard, but you need that guidance-look no further.

David, I’ve told you many times and will continue to do so-THANK YOU! Thanks for sharing this interview too. Hope it helps encourage others who are ready to take the next steps in their audio career.
